MANILA, Philippines – The Petron-Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Stars earned a couple of opportunities after their gallant stand in the Thai-Denmark Super League in Bangkok last week.

PSL president Ramon Suzara said organizers of a tournament in Croatia have expressed their intention to invite the PSL stars to compete against some of the best volleyball players in Europe after witnessing how they put up a good fight against top teams in Thailand.

Suzara, however, could not cement his commitment, as the tournament will coincide with the crucial stretch of the PSL All-Filipino Conference in July.

"The invitation is already up there. It's now up to us to grab it," Suzara said. "Unfortunately, I couldn't commit right away because the tournament will smack with the All-Filipino."

"It would have been a perfect opportunity to give our players a very good exposure against top European players," he added.

Suzara, however, is still keeping his door open for the European tournament.

"Who knows? It might fit to our calendar," he said. "Maybe the organizers can do something to amend their schedule. We may never know. We'll just wait and see."

The PSL is also being invited to compete against the Hong Kong national team on June 12, and Suzara said this is already a go. It will also serve as their Independence Day gift to thousands of Filipino migrant workers in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong also competed in the Thai-Denmark Super League but fell short.

"Organizers are now putting the finishing touches to the project," Suzara said. "They are now in the process of looking for a venue that is big enough to accommodate the Filipino workers who are expected to watch the match."

"These opportunities are good for the players, the objectives of the national team, and Philippine women's volleyball in general," he added.

"We will continue the program and work hard to catch up with international standards."

Members of the PSL All-Star team left for Manila on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the final round of the PSL Invitational Cup begins on April 7, with Thai team Est Cola competing for the crown against F2 Logistics, RC Cola-Army, and Petron.
