MANILA – Barangay Ginebra will try to ride on the crest of their Game 2 victory when action in the PBA Philippine Cup finals resumes on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Game 3 won’t be easy though, especially after the Gin Kings’ grueling encounter with San Miguel last Sunday when they outlasted the Beermen via overtime, 124-118.

The Gin Kings will be missing Jervy Cruz, who sustained an injury in his left shoulder after colliding with the Beermen’s June Mar Fajardo in the second quarter.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone said the former University of Sto. Tomas player is listed as day-to-day.

“He’s doubtful tomorrow (Wednesday) and then we'll see what happens on Friday,” Cone said in FOX Sports Asia. “It’s a big blow because he’s a tough mismatch for all the bigs in the series because he has the ability to shoot perimeter shots.”

This puts a strain on the rest of the team, which already has Joe Devance playing injured.

Cone is also fielding his veterans Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand. Both didn't play in Game 2.

"We didn't get Jay and Mark today in the game, but that's great because they're gonna be fresh in Game 3," said Cone. "Jay and Mark are definitely playing in Game 3."

Meanwhile, San Miguel might insert RR Garcia into the rotation in Game 3. Garcia has been sidelined since Game 6 of San Miguel’s semis victory over TNT KaTropa due to an injured right shoulder. He has been cleared to play.

“I’m excited. That’s the best feeling, playing in the Finals,” he said in the PBA website.

Beermen head coach Leo Austria wants to make sure the former King Tamaraw is ready to play again.

“Our PT [physical therapist] said that the development of his injury has been good, and he was shooting earlier to see if there’s still some pain,” Austria said.

“Once he’s ready, we’ll put him in our usual rotation. Physically, he’s ready except for his shoulder, but he’s in shape. We’ll see tomorrow or on Friday,” he added.

Tip off will be at 7 p.m.
