MANILA, Philippines – Former De La Salle University center Ben Mbala is spreading his wings even further.

After a stint with Fuerza Regia de Monterrey in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional in Mexico, Mbala announced that he is headed to France.

"New adventure, new opportunity," Mbala tweeted on Monday, while adding emojis of the French flag and an airplane.

He also replied to a follower that he "got a better opportunity" after spending about a month with Fuerza Regia.

The "better opportunity" is in France, where Mbala will now play for Chorale Roanne Basket, which competes in the country's second division, LNB Pro B. The team announced Mbala's signing last week.

In a statement, Chorale Roanne said Mbala is set to arrive in France on Tuesday, but must first pass a medical before he can play in their game on Friday against Rouen.

The club highlighted Mbala's stint in La Salle, his performances for Fuerza Regia, and his star-making turn for Cameroon in the Afro Basket to hype up their new big man.

A two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player, Mbala led La Salle to the championship in Season 79 but left the Green Archers after Season 80 amidst the uncertainty surrounding his eligibility for the upcoming season.
