MANILA, Philippines – Wangs Basketball-Letran opened its campaign in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup in rousing fashion, demolishing AMA Online Education 93-75 at the Pasig Sports Center on Tuesday afternoon.

While virtually every player contributed for the Couriers, it was veteran forward Bong Quinto who shone brightest with a 19-point, 10-rebound, six-assist performance.

Newcomer Bonbon Batiller contributed 15 points, five rebounds, and three dimes in his debut, while JP Calvo had 12 points and eight boards.

Christian Fajarito registered 11 points and nine rebounds, while Alex Mandreza also finished in double-digits with 10 markers.

Despite their comfortable victory, Wangs coach Jeff Napa says he expects better performances from the Couriers in their future games.

"Masaya kami syempre dahil nanalo. Pero marami pa rin kaming kailangang gawin," said Napa, whose team had a 57-44 rebounding edge that helped them in the rout.

After a close first quarter, Quinto and Calvo waxed hot in the second period to lead the Couriers' breakaway.

They dropped 38 points in the second frame and eventually went on to lead by as much as 21 points in the final quarter.

Michael Cañete topscored AMA with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Kris Porter had 13.

In the second game, Zark's Burger-Lyceum rebounded from an opening day loss to Marinerong Pilipino by crushing Batangas-EAC, 112-75.

CJ Perez led the way for the Jawbreakers with 21 points.
