MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes has yet to call up players to replace Calvin Abueva and Raymond Almazan, who were dropped from the national team pool for the second qualifying window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Reyes announced on Monday that Abueva and Almazan will no longer be a part of the pool after failing to attend the team's first three practices of 2018.

That leaves two openings in the 15-man pool that Reyes called up ahead of the national team's February 22 showdown against Australia.

However, according to Gilas Pilipinas team manager Butch Antonio, Reyes has yet to name their replacements.

"Right now, wala pang mine-mention sila coach," said Antonio, who also stressed that Almazan and Abueva's removal from the pool is only for the second window of the qualiifiers.

"With regard to replacing them, I'm not sure. But I guess with the PBA there, if coach Chot and the coaching staff feel that they need to replace, then we can always make representations with the Commissioner's Office," he also said.

Reyes said that Abueva and Almazan's teams – Alaska and Rain or Shine, respectively – have been informed that the two players were dropped from the Gilas Pilipinas pool. However, he has yet to discuss the matter with the players themselves.

When asked about the two players' excuse for their absences, Antonio said: "Si Calvin mentioned that he has a hamstring injury. Raymond, I'm not sure."

"Sinabi sa akin kanina that he was trying to call me, (but) I didn't get naman any call," he added.
