MANILA -- Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio believes he has a better chance of beating former ONE flyweight king Kairat Akhmetov this time around.

Not only did they prepare well for the interim flyweight title clash, Eustaquio also feels the length of the bout will play a big factor in their rematch.

“Whatever we did in training for the first fight we doubled this time, because were not just fighting for three rounds but five,” Eustaquio said Monday in the final presser for ONE: Global Superheroes which takes place at the Mall of Asia Arena this Friday.

“We adapted a lot of things in wrestling, defense, offense. We also put more emphasis on accuracy. We have a better game plan this time and I think fighting five rounds would be an advantage for us.”

The two first fought back in September in Jakarta.

Eustaquio was able to daze Akhmetov with a couple of upkicks in the first round. The referee, however, temporarily halted the fight and inadvertently allowed the dazed Kazakh to recover.

Akhmetov later troubled Eustaquio with his wrestling, enabling the Kazakh to carve out a razor-thin decision win.

“We have met before and we’re good friends… I’m looking forward to the fight this weekend. It’s going to be a spectacular show, we will fight our best,” said Akhmetov, also known as the Kazakh.

“Geje put up a valiant effort in our last encounter… a resounding victory is what I need to win this belt.”

The bout will be featured as the main event.

In the co-main, Team Lakay stalwart and former strawweight contender Joshua Pacio will take on China’s Ming Qian Lan.

Homegrown featherweight talent Eric Kelly is also making his comeback by tackling Brazil’s Rafael Nunes.
