A 17-year-old Filipina singer has made it to "The Voice Israel" semi-finals after garnering the highest number of online votes.

Ezra Liz Joy Ng is the youngest semi-finalist on the show.

"My friends encouraged me to join 'The Voice Israel'," Ng said.

Ng paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Israel Neal Imperial at the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv on February 14.

Ng is no stranger to the stage. She has been performing in front of Filipino community events and in many activities of the embassy.

Ambassador Imperial commended Joy for making Filipinos in Israel proud and for sharing her talent.

He said Ng has become an ambassador of goodwill by helping bring together Filipinos and Israelis and by elevating the image of Filipinos in Israel.

The embassy is appealing to the Filipino community in Israel to continue supporting the teenager in her pursuit of bagging the title this year.

Rose Fostanes, a Filipino caregiver in Israel, won the first season of another singing contest, "X Factor Israel," in January 2014.
