President Rodrigo Duterte said the bombing of the Hilongos plaza in Leyte on Wednesday night was drug-related.

“Drug-related, involving Moro people also,” Duterte said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News' Lynda Jumilla in Malacanang on Thursday.

Duterte said he will be visiting Leyte on Friday before he flies to his hometown of Davao City.

The President added that the Communists cannot be tagged in the bombing incident since there is an ongoing ceasefire, and that the New People’s Army (NPA) has no record of bombing innocent people.

“Ang NPA, wala silang record na magtapon ng granada sa mga taong inosente. It has nothing to do with the left or communists,” Duterte said.

At least 34 people were wounded when two homemade bombs exploded during the town fiesta in Hilongos.
