It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Baguio City as the temperature dropped to its lowest by far this month on Saturday morning.

At 5 a.m., weather bureau PAGASA recorded the temperature in Baguio City at 11.5 degrees Celsius.

The cool weather is a come on for many tourists who are already vacationing or still planning to visit the City of Pines.

"Refreshing lang. Outside the city kumbaga," said Trinidad Araful.

For other tourists like Michelle Relatado, the cool weather is still bearable.

"'Yung lamig naman is kaya lang, masarap sa feeling," she said.

Weather specialist Buddy Javier said Friday's temperature in Baguio City was at 12.5 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are expected to remain low until February due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

Because of the cool weather, jackets are selling fast in the city.

"Malamig dito saka kasi may trip kami sa Japan next year so time na rin kasi maraming jacket iba-ibang klase," said tourist Judilene Alba, who bought outerwear to bundle up.

Chai Escarez added that the jackets are very affordable.

"Super affordable and magandang pang gift 'yung iba, tapos mga original pa tapos super mura," she said.

In Metro Manila, residents are also feeling the cool breeze, especially in the morning.

Javier said the temperature at 6 a.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City was at a low of 21 degrees Celsius compared to 22.2 degrees Celsius yesterday. -- reports from Micaella Ilao and Aleta Nieva Nishimori, ABS-CBN News
