MANILA - US President Donald Trump wore a barong when he attended Sunday's gala dinner for the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related meetings.
Trump was greeted by President Rodrigo Duterte and his partner Honeylet Avanceña at the red carpet of the event held at the SMX Convention Center.
The US President flew to the Philippines from Vietnam, where he also met President Duterte on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings.
Trump earlier said he was prepared to mediate in the dispute over the South China Sea, where four Southeast Asian countries and Taiwan contest China's sweeping claims to the busy waterway.
