MANILA - Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding Chairman Nur Misuari will play a key role in efforts to end the decades-long Muslim rebellion in the south, President Rodrigo Duterte's peace adviser said Thursday.

Misuari traveled to Manila from his lair on the remote southern island of Jolo after a local court suspended a warrant for his arrest over a bloody siege on Zamboanga City in 2013.

Dureza said certain conditions were set for Misuari's temporary freedom. These include asking the government for permission to travel abroad, providing authorities with monthly reports on his activities.
