Portions of a condominium complex in Davao City cracked and crumbled after a magnitude 6.5 quake jolted parts of Mindanao, Thursday morning, marking the third time a powerful temblor rocked the southern Philippines this month.

Ecoland 4000 did not totally collapse but portions of its external walls and ceilings fell off, prompting disaster and emergency officials to rush to the complex around 9 a.m.

Several residents were seen exiting the compound bleeding. Some told ABS-CBN News that they were hit by falling debris during the quake.

Authorities were still verifying a report that 4 carpenters in the building were trapped underneath the rubble, said Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

As of 10 a.m., officials have yet to determine the total number of injured victims.

Duterte-Carpio and her brother, Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, are at the area to monitor the developments on the ground.

Their father, President Rodrigo Duterte, was safe in their hometown when the quake struck, Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said.
