MANILA (6 a.m. UPDATE) - Several local government units (LGUs) suspended classes on Thursday, October 20 due to typhoon ''Lawin."

As of 6 a.m. Thursday, classes have been suspended in the following areas:

  • Angeles city, Pampanga
  • Apayao
  • Aringay, La Union
  • Bacnotan, La Union
  • Batangas
  • Bauang, La Union
  • Baguio City
  • Bataan
  • Batangas
  • Bauang, La Union
  • Benguet
  • Caloocan
  • Cavite
  • Dagupan City
  • Guiguinto, Bulacan
  • Hagonoy, Bulacan
  • Ifugao
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • Isabela Province (including Ilagan City & Santiago City)
  • Kalinga
  • Laguna
  • Lubao, Pampanga
  • Makati
  • Malabon
  • Malolos City, Bulacan
  • Mandaluyong
  • Manila
  • Marilao, Bulacan

OFFICES
Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis Singson also suspended work in all government agencies on Thursday.

Work in government offices, except for those involved in frontline services, has also been suspended in Baguio City and Kalinga, while office work in both private and government offices have been suspended in Abra, Mountain Province (until October 21) and Apayao (until October 21).

From a super typhoon, Lawin has weakened to a typhoon early Thursday, but will continue to pound Luzon with high winds and intense rains, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
