MANILA - " I am not the bad and evil woman or slut they are trying to portray in the past few weeks."

Senator Leila de Lima on Friday dismissed the allegations hurled against her in a dialogue before students and teachers at Miriam College, Quezon City.

"I have not partied with or slept with any drug convict," De Lima said.

The senator, who is facing charges over her alleged links to narcotics syndicates during her time as justice secretary, denied that she is the "queen of the Bilibid drug trade" and the "mother of drug lords."

She also denied receiving kickbacks from the illegal drug trade.

No less than President Rodrigo Duterte, a long-time foe of De Lima, has linked the senator to an alleged narcotics ring in Bilibid. The President has also accused De Lima of sleeping with her driver.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre also threatened to present alleged sex videos of de Lima to establish her link to her former driver. De Lima has said she did not have a "sex video," adding all the allegations against her were fabricated by the administration after she criticized the President's anti-drug policies.

During the forum, De Lima said she is afraid that the public is starting to believe the "relentless and vicious" attacks of the "most powerful man in this country," apparently referring to Duterte.

She added that she has always considered her personal life sacred and private.

"As a woman, I made mistakes in my personal life. And I’ve always considered my personal life as a private matter, it’s a sacred thing to me but now they have been intruding and encroaching into my privacy,” she said.
