Senator Leila de Lima and Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre

MANILA - Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre on Wednesday said he may be able to procure documents from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) which can possibly trace the connection between drug lords and Senator Leila de Lima.

In a press conference, Aguirre said he may be able to retrieve these documents by Thursday. He, however, still has to determine whether these documents can be publicly released.

Aguirre admitted it's difficult to see direct transactions from the bank accounts of drug lords to De Lima's bank accounts, since De Lima probably did not leave a paper trail.

He added that bank transactions may have been made through the bank accounts of people around De Lima.
