MANILA - A large party of mourners turned out Wednesday for a funeral Mass for Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and 3 members of his family, who were killed in a string of pre-dawn raids.

Hundreds of the political clan's supporters paid their last respects to the Parojinogs at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral before the burial.

Some were clad in shirts printed with photos of the Parojinogs and statements calling for justice.

The Philippine flag was draped over the coffin of the mayor.

A sister of the mayor attended the Mass and wept for her slain relatives.

After the Mass, the Parojinogs' remains will be brought to the Mt. Malindang Memorial Gardens Inc., where they will be buried.

Mayor Parojinog, his wife Susan, brother and Misamis Occidental board member Octavio, and their sister Mona were among 16 people killed last July 30, when their family's security personnel allegedly fought policemen who were supposed to serve search warrants.

The same operation led to the arrest of Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and her brother Reynaldo Jr. following the discovery of half a kilo of shabu in their home.

The vice mayor's cousin, Darryl, was also killed in the raid and was buried last Saturday.

The police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have launched separate probes into the bloody operation against Ozamiz' top political clan.
