MANILA (UPDATE) - Rain will continue to drench Metro Manila and other areas of Luzon until next week due to the southwest monsoon (habagat), state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday.

Tropical storm Karding and a tropical depression outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon.

In its 5 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said Karding was last spotted 805 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes (outside PAR), packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph), with gusts of up to 90 kph.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression was last estimated 1,050 kilometers west northwest of extreme northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph.

It is forecast to move north at 15 kph and is not expected to enter PAR.

On Saturday, monsoon rains will continue to affect Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will be experienced in Western Visayas, and the rest of Luzon.

Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will, meanwhile, experience isolated rainshowers.
