MANILA—Three persons were convicted of fraud linked to transactions made with Globe Telecom in the Visayas, the company said Saturday.

In a statement, Globe said it "will continue to be relentless in pursuing all types of fraud that can damage the company’s reputation and can affect legitimate Globe customers."

Winston Rafael Longcob, who acquired high-end phones from Globe by submitting fake documents, was sentenced to 3 years in prison after being found guilty of estafa by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) 10 in Cebu City last month.

In Bacolod, Jarryd Nielsen Villaflor and Michael Ken Ledesma were found guilty of violating the Access Device Law and were sentenced to 6 years in prison and fined P5,000 each on May 22.

Villaflor and Ledesma were arrested in an entrapment operation for selling illegal Wimax.

“We want to remind our customers to only transact with legitimate sellers and distributors or to any Globe stores to ensure the right customer experience," Globe said.
