National Capital Region Police Office Director Oscar Albayalde said they learned Friday afternoon that the gunman who ran amok at Resorts World Manila rode a cab and not a private car.

Although the gunman's body was found charred in hotel room 510, he can still be identified, according to Albayalde.

“Yes, I think the forensics is still intact and our team will conduct autopsy on the cadaver. From the serial number of the firearm, we will be able to establish the identity of the owner,” he said.

Albayalde said the police forensics team will take 2-3 days’ time to come up with a report.

He added that they are also coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation and their foreign counterparts in a joint effort to identify the gunman.

Albayalde said the gunman may have frequented the casino, saying some of the resort hotel's personnel “could probably identify the gunman.”
