DAVAO CITY - Mayor Sara Duterte on Monday said the city's peace and order council would ask the Supreme Court to transfer Maute extremists detained here to Metro Manila to prevent a potential jailbreak.
President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter said this was among issues discussed during the peace and order council meeting last Friday.
Five Maute members were arrested in connection with a night market blast here last September.
Mayor Duterte assured Davaoeños and tourists that authorities were on red alert.
She said Davaoeños were united with the Muslim community in observing the holy month of Ramadan.
"Never in the history of Davao City has there been Muslim or Christian hatred. We all pray for a peaceful Ramadan here in Davao City," she said.
