COTABATO CITY - The Darul Iftah of the Philippines announced on Tuesday that the holy month of Ramadan among Muslims will start on Thursday, May 17.

Grand Mufti Abu Hureira Udasan made the announcement around 8 p.m. in the Cotabato City Hall.

"We have to start fasting on the month of Ramadan on Thursday, May 17, 2018," Udasan said.

“The message of fasting is to be more discipline and more Allah. You learn to fear God. Fasting is a sort of training spiritually, morally and psychologically. A man will be strong to face challenges in his life," he added.
