TUBIGON, Bohol (UPDATE) - A suspected Abu Sayyaf member was arrested here after he got wounded in a firefight against government forces, authorities said.

AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla confirmed the arrest in Barangay Tan-awan but has yet to get details, as of posting.

Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto, meanwhile, said the suspect resembles an alias Abu Saad.

"Troops on the ground are still confirming the identities of the suspected Abu Sayyaf members... One suspect strongly resembles Abu Saad," Chatto said.

Authorities have been scouring the towns of Tubigon, Clarin, and Inabanga for weeks after at least 11 Abu Sayyaf members entered the province in an attempt to conduct kidnapping plots during the Holy Week.

Ten Abu Sayyaf fighters have been killed in separate gun battles with security forces, including bandit sub-leader Abu Rami and their contact person in Bohol, Joselito Melloria.
