The Syrian woman arrested for suspected links to the militant Islamic State remains detained in the Philippines as the Bureau of Immigration (BI) continues to coordinate her deportation with the Syrian embassy.

BI officials said Rahaf Zina is still in the country as the Philippine and Syrian governments make arrangements for her flight back to her war-torn home country.

Zina was arrested March 25 in Taguig City with her husband, Kuwaiti Hussein Al-Dhafiri, a suspected ISIS member. Al-Dhafiri was deported on Friday.

Military intelligence said Zina is the widow of Abu Jandal Al-Kuwaiti, the second highest ISIS leader in Syria earlier killed in a combat operation. She then remarried within the terror group.

Al-Dhafiri, her current husband, is reportedly an ISIS bomb-maker who may be involved in plans to launch terror attacks in Kuwait. He is facing trial there alleged crimes against state security.

The BI board, led by Commissioner Jaime Morente, ordered their deportation soon after their arrest.

The Armed Forces and the police have assured the public there are no terror threats in Metro Manila and other parts of the country despite the entry of the suspected terrorists.
