MINGLANILLA, Cebu - Ten people, including 3 minors, were injured after heavy rains caused a stage to collapse in this town on Easter Sunday morning.
The victims were taking shelter from the rain and waiting for the Sugat Kabanhawan Festival when the scaffolding of the stage's roof collapsed, according to SPO4 Edgar Belisco of the Mingalanilla police.
The foundation of the scaffolding reportedly became weak because the ground was flooded.
Most of the victims were brought to the Minglanilla District Hospital, while one victim was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Hospital in Cebu City due to a severe injury.
Tropical depression "Crising" dumped heavy rains over Cebu and other parts of the country on Saturday. It weakened into a low pressure area after making landfall in Samar.
The LPA is expected to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains that may trigger floods and landslide in the Eastern and Central Visayas regions, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
