President Rodrigo Duterte kicked off his state visit to Bahrain on Thursday, where he is expected to meet with officials of the Middle East kingdom and witness the signing of several bilateral agreements.

Duterte arrived at the Sakhir Palace at 8 p.m. (1 a.m. Friday in Manila), where will meet with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. A dinner reception was scheduled later in the day.

The President, earlier in the day, attended a private lunch hosted by Bahrain's deputy prime minister.

Bahrain is the second stop of Duterte's Middle East tour. He was in Saudi Arabia earlier this week where he secured $470 million in investment pledges that are expected to create 16,000 jobs.
