TOURIST CAP: The Philippines might limit the number of tourists to be allowed into Boracay island after its 6-month rehabilitation, two officials involved in the cleanup said Wednesday.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has been ordered to determine the island's carrying capacity, and it will release its findings by the end of the month, said Usec. Jonas Leones.

Government agencies are gearing up for a months-long closure of Boracay to give way to its rehabilitation which was prompted by President Rodrigo Duterte's remarks calling the island a "cesspool."

Teo is hopeful that with the cooperation of all the stakeholders, the shutdown would be shortened to only 4 months and would only cause minimal economic losses.
