MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte met with Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua at the Presidential Guest House in Davao City on Monday.

During the meeting, Zhao gave Duterte a birthday gift: a portrait showing the president, his partner Honeylet Avanceña and daughter Veronica.

Amid maritime disputes in the West Philippine Sea, Duterte last week said Beijing has promised not to construct anything in Panatag Shoal.
