MANILA - A retired policeman, who claims to be a team leader of a death squad allegedly operating under then-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, has warned the tough-talking leader that God's judgement is foreboding.

Speaking to ANC's Headstart, retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas gave a simple message to now President Duterte:

"Isa lang masabi ko kay Mayor or Presidente: na merong Diyos, na hindi ultimate solution ang pagpatay. We will be answerable for it, siguro hindi sa batas ng tao pero sigurado akong sa batas ng Diyos," he said.

"There is eternal judgement and it is coming," he added.

Lascañas claimed that the Davao Death Squad carried out killings on orders of Duterte, who served as mayor of Davao City for more than two decades.

Lascañas faced the Senate on Monday and retracted his previous statement to the body that the vigilante group was nothing but media hype.

He claimed before lawmakers that he killed at least 200 people by his own hand or by supervising the operations of the Davao Death Squad.

But Duterte on Tuesday gave a blanket denial to Lascañas' claims.

“They are all lies. Why should I respond to lies?” Duterte told reporters in an ambush interview in Malacañang.
