Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday, according to a photo posted by her husband, lawyer Mans Carpio, on Instagram.

Stonefish, the couple's third child, was born at 12:56 p.m. Duterte was pregnant with triplets but lost two to miscarriage.

"Thank you, Lord, for the gift of life," Carpio said.

"Mayor Inday Sara is stable and generally fine," he added.

Malacañang, in a statement, said President Rodrigo Duterte is delighted with the birth of Stonefish.

"The President is delighted with the arrival of his newest apo, and he is glad that both Mayor Inday Sara and Stonefish are healthy and stable," Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said.

Abella added that the birth of Stonefish "strengthens" the President's campaign against illegal drugs.

"The arrival of the Chief Executive's newest apo Stonefish strengthens PRRD's resolve to leave a legacy of a Philippines safe and secure from drugs and heinous crimes to future generation of Filipinos," Abella said.

President Duterte's eldest daughter announced in August that she was having a "difficult" pregnancy and was advised by her doctors to rest.

The couple has two other children, Sharky and Stingray.
