Edgar Matobato, the self-confessed hitman who admitted to being part of the alleged Davao Death Squad (DDS), is back in the spotlight.

This was after retired SPO3 Arturo Lascañas came out and said that he was also part of the DDS.

Matobato said he was happy with Lascañas' confession about the existence of the DDS as this gave weight to his earlier claims that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered killings during his stint as Davao City's mayor.

Here are some excerpts from ABS-CBN reporter Niko Baua's interview with Matobato.

MATOBATO ON LASCAÑAS

Matobato describes Lascañas as one of Duterte's most trusted aides. He also says Lascañas was a friend who was like a brother to him.

JUN BARSABAL'S KILLING

Matobato also backs Lascañas' claim that the DDS was responsible for the killing of Jun Barsabal. He even said that he got injured in the operation to abduct Barsabal.

LASCAÑAS KILLING HIS OWN BROTHERS

One of the more shocking confessions made by Lascañas was that he was responsible for the death of his two brothers who were involved in drugs. Matobato says that while he has no direct knowledge of these killings, it was known among their circle that Lascañas had a hand in their deaths.

PAULO DUTERTE

Matobato insisted that Paulo Duterte, the President's son, ordered several killings.

Paulo Duterte has denied Matobato's claims of the self-confessed hitman.

LIFE AFTER TESTIFYING

Matobato, meanwhile, said he is already at peace with whatever becomes his fate. He just hopes that his loved ones will be spared from whatever vengeance being planned against him.

Matobato also hopes that more alleged members of the Davao Death Squad will surface to back up his claims.
