BATARAZA – An operation in Barangay Sapa, Bataraza, Palawan by an environmental task force led to the confiscation of about 2,931 board feet of allegedly illegally acquired lumber, along with 5 small boats.

The Provincial Law Enforcement Task Force seized the Amugis (Koordersiodendron pinnatum) lumber from suspects Diling Alie and Hayati Dugasan, residents of Brooke's Point, Palawan; and Mohamad Obong and amad Jambon, residents of Bataraza, Palawan.

The members of the task force brought the lumber to Brooke’s Point City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CENRO), while the motor launches were temporarily placed in the custody of the Barangay Sapa’s captain.

Authorities began documentation of the operation at the CENRO in preparation for administrative proceedings and eventual filing of criminal cases against the suspects for violation of Presidential Decree 705, or The Forestry Code of the Philippines.
