SURIGAO CITY – (UPDATED) An old man was trapped after a three-storey house in Surigao City collapsed following a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck northern Mindanao Friday night.

According to neighbors, 86-year-old Lorenzo Deguino lived alone in the house. His lifeless body was found under his collapsed home in Barangay Poctoy.

Rescuers believe a beam hit his head during the earthquake.

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents have fled their homes after the earthquake hit the city.

They have evacuated to the Provincial Capitol where generators have been set up to provide temporary power.
