OZAMIZ - Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and daughter Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog posted bail at the Sandiganbayan Monday for the graft case that they are facing even before the Regional Trial Court could issue a warrant of arrest.

Each posted a bail of P30,000.

Earlier, the Sandiganbayan ordered an issuance of an arrest warrant for the duo as their plea to dismiss their graft case filed last year was dismissed.

In a text message, the younger Parojinog said she and her father (Mayor Parojinog) are fine and belied reports that they were arrested.

According to an insider, an employee from the city hall said it was DPWH Central Office who awarded the contract for the renovation of Ramiro Gymnasium in 2008 to Parojinog and Sons Construction company owned by the mayor's family.

The project had a budget allocation of P2 million and was completed in 2010.

From its renovation in 2010, which includes the installation of wooden tiles at the gymnasium's court, it is now dilapidated after serving as the venue of several functions in the past six years.

Residents like Geraldine Signar said she could not believe that their mayor will be involved in alleged anomalous transactions. "He's been very good to us, to everyone," Signar said.

The Parojinog family has been at the seat of power in Ozamiz City for years and was included in President Rodrigo Duterte's narco-list.
