Authorities reported a loud explosion at the national highway of Barangay Satan, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Agustin Tello, director of the Maguindanao Provincial Police Office, said Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters planted the improvised explosive device. There were no reported casualties in the incident.

Aside from the explosion, an IED was also recovered in Barangay Satan of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao early morning of Monday.

According to the explosive ordnance and disposal team, the IED was made with 105 millimeter mortar and used a cellular phone as triggering device.

The explosive was recovered near the 601st Infantry Brigade headquarters in Shariff Aguak.

"Possibleng target ang sundalo pwede ring sibilyan. Ang paglagay ng mga IED dati pa nilang ginagawa dati pa nilang tactics kaya nga mas naghihigpit tayo ng seguridad," he said.

Some motorists were stranded due to the recovery of the IED.
