CAMP NAVARRO, Calarian, Zamboanga City - A decaying body suspected to be that of beheaded Canadian kidnap victim Robert Hall was dug up and recovered by troops of the Joint Task Group Sulu in Talipao, Sulu on Saturday morning.

The Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) said local residents of Upper Barangay Kamuntayan, Talipao informed authorities of the body.

The body was brought to the JTG Sulu Headquarters in Barangay Busbus, Jolo, Sulu for documentation before it will be turned over to the Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Hall was beheaded by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) on June 13, 2016. His head was later recovered by civilians in front of the gate of the Jolo Cathedral.

Hall, together with fellow Canadian national John Ridsdel, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipina Marites Flor, was abducted last September 21, 2015 at the Ocean View Resort in Barangay Camudmud, Samal City, Davao del Norte.

Ridsdel was also beheaded by the bandits in late April while Flor was freed last month. Sekkingstad remains in the hands of the Abu Sayyaf.

The Wesmincom has decried the barbaric act of the Abu Sayyaf Group in beheading its captives which can be described as contrary to Islamic teachings.

Focused military operations are being undertaken in the area to neutralize the Abu Sayyaf and possibly rescue the remaining kidnap victim.
