DAVAO CITY - President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's eldest son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, was slapped with a speeding ticket near Barangay Bangkal early Friday morning.

Davao City has a local Executive Order 39, approved by the mayor, that imposes speed limits in certain areas in Davao.

"There is a 40 kilometer per hour (kph) speed limit at the area where he (Paolo) was apprehended. He was driving at around 55 kph," Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office chief Rhodelio Poliquit told ABS-CBN News.

"He immediately gave his license to my enforcers," Poliquit added.

In a Facebook post, the Davao City vice mayor posted a picture of his speeding ticket with a caption in Bisaya.

"Kasi naman sinabi nang 40 kph lang. Yan! Nagmamadali kasi umuwi dahil galit na si kumander. 57 kph. Huli tuloy. Dapat kasi huwag tayo magmadali dahil takot tayo sa misis basta makauwi lang ng maayos," the caption reads when translated into Tagalog.

Paolo also praised the traffic enforcers who apprehended him for conducting random inspections.

Poliquit said the vice mayor will be slapped with a P2,078 fine, and is given three days to settle his traffic violation at the local Land Transportation Office.

This is not the first time a member of the Duterte family has been flagged down in their stronghold for a traffic violation.

Poliquit said Sara Duterte was also issued a speeding ticket in 2014, while the president-elect was apprehended in 2009 for not wearing a helmet while driving his motorcycle.
