ILOILO - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines expects at least 2,000 megawatts of power consumption on the day of the election.

NGCP is now preparing to satisfy the power demand on May 9 elections. Although there is a projected sufficient power supply in the Visayas during elections, NGCP is on alert for any possible sabotage on NGCP towers and lines.

To ensure the safety of NGCP's power lines, they are now preparing their equipment and other facilities which will be used to respond during emergencies.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police said it has not monitored threats that NGCP's towers and power lines will be attacked.

However, authorities are still on alert to ensure the security of NGCP facilities and other vital installations.

Several PNP personnel were already deployed to several strategic areas in the province of Iloilo to respond to any emergencies.

Aside from the PNP, members of the Philippine Army were also deployed to areas where insurgency remains a big challenge.
