MANILA – A British man was sentenced to 19 years and 6 months in jail for molesting children during a trip to the Philippines.

United Kingdom's National Crime Agency said Trevor Monk faced a number of charges after he admitted to possession and making indecent images of children, assault by penetration of a child under the age of 13 and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

It was confirmed that Monk visited the Philippines and that the abuse took place during one of his visits.

A BBC report said Monk paid nearly £15,000 to watch child sex abuse in Manila through his webcam, before carrying out the abuse himself.

''Not only did Trevor Monk pay for the sexual abuse of children to be streamed back to the UK live over the internet, he traveled to the Philippines to carry out the abuse himself,'' said Matt Sutton from the NCA's CEOP Command.

''Protecting children from sexual abuse – whether they are in the UK or overseas – is a priority for the National Crime Agency. We will continue to work with our national and international law enforcement partners to share information and intelligence to ensure children are safeguarded and offenders are brought to justice."

Monk was first arrested in March 2015 on suspicion of paying for the live-streaming of child abuse from the Philippines.

Seized from him were an external hard drive and two computer tower units which contained 80,758 indecent images of children and 1,757 indecent videos of children.

He was re-arrested in November 2015 after authorities found a video of him sexually assaulting a child.

Aside from serving his jail term, Monk will also be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and all his electronic devices are subject to a deprivation order.

UK MAN PAYS FOR LIVE-STREAM OF ABUSE OF PH KIDS

Meanwhile, another British man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of live-streaming child sex abuse and thousands of indecent images and videos of children were found in his possession.

The NCA said Thomas James Fairley, 43, was arrested in November 2015 on suspicion of paying for indecent images of children and inciting sexual activity with children from the Philippines.

During a search, authorities found 3,375 indecent images and videos of children from his two laptops and one desktop computer. Aside from the computer files, online chat archives of Fairley showed Fairley requested indecent live shows of children.

Fairley will also be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

''Thomas Fairley paid for the sexual abuse of some of the world's most vulnerable children to be streamed back to him in the UK, live via the internet,'' Sutton said.

''He also collected a large number of extremely disturbing images, some of which fall into the worst category possible. Each of these images involved a child being abused."
