MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang declined to comment on the news report about the alleged attempt of Department of the Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Rico Puno to enter the condominium unit of DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo a day after his plane crashed.
Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) Secretary Ricky Carandang also would not comment on whether Puno was indeed the subject of an investigation being conducted by Robredo.
"What I can confirm is that before his death, Secretary Robredo was conducting a number of very sensitive investigations. But I will not comment on the specifics of what was being investigated or who. I think lalabas din 'yan. For the moment, I will not comment on these investigations because many of them are in a very sensitive stage," Carandang told reporters.
"I understand many of these investigations were done by Secretary Robredo on his own."
Carandang would neither answer questions on whether the President's order to secure Robredo's office and papers were triggered by Puno's alleged attempt or if there is an internal investigation now being conducted on the matter.
