DIPOLOG CITY - Thousands of live tamban fish have showed up on the shores of Dipolog City.
This caused hundreds of residents top gather on the shores late afternoon to wait for the fish to show up. Some were able to catch as many as 50 fish per person.
According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), this was caused by the extreme heat brought by the El Niño phenomenon. Schools of fish tend to swim near the shore where it is cooler.
BFAR added that the fish ban on tamban from December to March added to the number of tamban appearing on shores.
