In an Instagram post on Thursday, Wurtzbach said she is “proud to represent my fellow countrymen, but most especially the LGBT community from all over the world” during the meeting, which brought together representatives from government and various sectors.

I want to show the world – the Universe, rather – that I am confidently beautiful with a heart,” she said during the final question and answer round of last year’s Miss Universe.
