MANILA - Esang de Torres, one of the finalists of the second season of "The Voice Kids," has been added to the cast of the Manila run of "Les Miserables," it was announced on Wednesday.

De Torres, who finished second runner-up to Elha Nympha, will be an alternate for the role of a young Cosette.

She will start performing on April 8.

De Torres was Lea Salonga's representative to the grand finals of "The Voice Kids." She first caught the attention of the Broadway star after belting out Diana Ross's "Home" during the blind auditions.

Salonga, who starred in the Broadway adaptation of "Les Miserables" as Eponine and Fantine, gave De Torres a standing ovation and praised the young singer for her "strong and beautiful" voice.

Prior to her "The Voice Kids" stint, De Torres also joined an "It's Showtime" segment dedicated to kids. She was introduced as the "Mini Lea Salonga."

The young Cosette is currently being portrayed by Filipino-Australian Chloe de los Santos. The Manila run of "Les Miserables" has also cast Filipina singer Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine.
