CAMIGUIN - Dressed in colorful costumes and accessories, eight contingents vied for this year's Lanzones Streetdancing Competition in the province of Camiguin in Northern Mindanao.

The presentation of each group highlighted the rich culture and tradition of the Manobo-Higaonon tribe as the early settlers of the island.

Some depicted the mythical story of Camiguin and its famous fruit called lanzones. Many believed that lanzones were blessings from the diwatas or the guardians of the forest.

Dante Aparte, the technical committee chairman of the 2017 Lanzones Festival, said buyers from other places would come to Camiguin to buy the sweet lanzones.
