Veteran journalist Tony Calvento passes away

(UPDATED) Veteran journalist Tony Calvento has passed away at the age of 63, his family announced Monday.

His son Sonny said the Calvento patriarch died of multiple organ failure.

"Papa, best known as Tony Calvento to friends and loved ones, has joined Our Creator today, 9 October 2017," Sonny said in a statement on Facebook.

Calvento was a multimedia journalist for print, radio, television, and even on social media.

He hosted "The Calvento Files", a crime and investigative show that aired on ABS-CBN from 1995 to 1998.

Calvento's remains lie at chapel three of The Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Funeral services will take place on Oct. 10 to Oct. 13 starting at 3 p.m. Calvento will be cremated following the service.
