MANILA – Former beauty queen Janine Tugonon is one step closer to becoming one of the first calendar models of Nu Muses, a project of Treats magazine founder Steve Shaw and celebrity photographer David Bellemere.

Tugonon, who finished first runner-up in Miss Universe 2012, is one of the 30 models who have been invited to a final casting call with Bellemere.

“With such overwhelming, wonderful responses, we decided to select 30 models who will move forward to the next phase of this project. They were selected based off their profiles, personalities and social efforts,” Nu Muses said on its website.

Reacting to the news, the New York-based Tugonon said in an Instagram post on Thursday (Manila time): “Woohoo! Got in the Top 30 for Nu Muses! Thank you to the judges and everyone who voted. Really appreciate it! It’s gonna be fun, fun, fun. On to the final casting soon! Love you all!”

From the Top 30, Nu Muses will choose 12 women to be its first calendar models. They will receive $10,000 and will be “photographed nude” by Bellemere at an “exclusive location.”
