Here's the latest from the food scene.

1. Okada’s mooncakes

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, you can now gift special mooncakes to your loved ones to mark the end of the harvest season. Okada Manila joins the festivity with a premium selection of mooncakes and special discounts on early and bulk purchases. 

Selling period of the classic flavors of Red Bean, Purple Yam, White Lotus with Double Yolk, and Red Lotus with Double Yolk is from September 1 until October 8. Prices start at P1,088.

2. Discover Greece at Manila Pavilion Hotel

Indulge in Greek cuisine at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino as it serves dishes like Greek Almond-Lemon Cake at and Greek Salad with Feta cheese (in photo) at the Patisserie for those craving a light and healthy Mediterranean meal.

For a heftier meal, try the Souvlaki Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Vegetables in a Skewer with Pita Bread and a side of Greek Salad, available at Seasons.

3. Marco Polo’s September signature dishes

Check out the new dishes of executive chef Alisdair Bletcher at Cucina this month. 

The new spread at the Signature Dishes station of Cucina includes seafood in crisp lemon pepper-scented beer batter with Romescu salsa, saffron garlic aioli, and basil pesto dipping sauce; marinated lamb brochette (in photo) with roasted garlic, olives, and spiced charred eggplant yoghurt; and breaded baked chicken thighs with spinach, walnuts and Roquefort cheese.

Cucina is located at the 24th level of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila.

4. Olivier & Co.’s 2017 Grand Crus Collection

Olivier & Co. had released its 2017 Grand Crus collection of limited edition olive oil, harvested from October to November 2016 from Italy, Spain, Croatia, Greece, Portugal, and France, each boasting remarkable quality and taste.

This year’s collection includes, among others, Fattorie DiGaliga E Vetrice from groves of Tuscany; the French oils sourced from Provence and Corsica, and the floral Frantoio Galantino from Italy.

O&Co. boutiques are located in Bonifacio High Street and Greenbelt 5.

5. Italianni’s new breakfast menu

Italianni’s has added eight new breakfast plates ranging from continental choices to Filipino favorites with complimentary coffee or tea to complete your first meal of the day.

Some of the new dishes that were added to the breakfast menu are Fried Eggplant with Sausage, Smoked Capocollo Ham with Avocado (in photo), Smoked Tinapa Delight, Breakfast Pork Chop, French Toast Platter.

These are available daily from 7-10:30 a.m. at Italianni’s Greenbelt, Bonifacio High Street, and Vista Mall in Sta. Rosa.

6. Crimson Hotel team wins gold at 2017 Philippine Culinary Cup

Crimson Hotel’s culinary team bagged gold at the Dream Team Challenge category of the prestigious 2017 Philippine Culinary Cup held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The members of the Crimson team are executive chef Marley Flattley, executive sous chef Plaridelio Adora, and chefs Daniel Tan and Virgilio Vasquez.

7. Bulgogi Brothers in The Choice hall of fame

For three straight years, Bulgogi Brothers, the South Korean franchise brought by The Bistro Group, has been hailed as the “Favorite Korean Restaurant” at The Choice Awards. Because of this, it now enters the Hall of Fame.

Bulgogi Brothers branches are located at Greenbelt 5 in Makati; Alabang Town Center; SM Mall of Asia; Newport Mall; and SM Lanang Premiere in Davao.
