MANILA -- 'Sample King' Jhong Hilario is now councilor-elect of the first district of Makati.

Garnering 80,692 votes, Hilario topped the councilor's race in his district.

In an interview with DZMM on Wednesday, the "It's Showtime" host said that he needs to work to show the public that he is worthy of the votes he received.

"Kailangan nating magtrabaho, ipakita sa tao, kung binoto ka ng tao kailangan ipakita mo na karapat-dapat ka kasi kung hindi, malamang hindi ka na manalo sa susunod," Hilario said.

Hilario was asked if he did stunts during their house-to-house campaign. He admitted that he danced when people requested him to do a sample.

"Alam mo mahirap hindian 'yung mga tao kapag nagre-request eh. Well hindi naman tayo nagtatatumbling pero 'pag sinasabing 'sample sample', umiindak tayo nang kaunti pampasaya para sa kanila kasi alam mo naman nakilala tayo bilang 'sample king' at least matuwa man lang sila," Hilario explained.

Also asked about his showbiz career after the election, Hilario said that he still needs to talk to his manager about his schedule.

However, he hopes to go back to showbiz anytime.

"Kailangan ko pa pong kausapin 'yung manager ko na si Direk Chito for the schedule and sa ngayon naman hindi pa naman tayo nakaupo pa sa city hall so pwede pa naman tayong bumalik anytime or gumawa ng mga teleserye," Hilario said.

Along with Hilario, Rico J. Puno was also elected as one of the councilors of Makati's first district.

Hilario's father, Virgilio, previously served as a councilor of Makati.
