LOS ANGELES, California – Filipino-Americans who are supporting presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte are giving out wristbands and chatting politics at a local strip mall.

"For us, Duterte is really the person who can make change...do change for the Philippines. We do not believe the present institution, the present government can make any changes," said Adrian Ingles of the Brotherhood for Duterte USA.

Adnan Alonto added, "Duterte is the only one that proposes systemic change and that is the shift to a federal form of government."

The Brotherhood for Duterte USA has been spending the past weekend trying to raise support for the Davao mayor.

"We want to make a stand, that in this coming 2016 presidential election, we are here to make a stand that that continuation of the status quo is not enough. This is an election that is not about more of the same, this is an election where there should be systemic change in the Philippines," Alonto said.

The campaigns for Duterte's presidential rivals, as well as vice presidential bets like Mar Roxas, Leni Robredo, Grace Poe, Chiz Escudero and Bongbong Marcos, all have their US-based supporters planning their own outreach events within the coming weeks.

For Duterte's volunteers, they're not only trying to not only gather overseas votes from OFWs but also to influence the families of OFWs back in the Philippines.

"It is the OFWs who are doing these changes to the Philippines so we, together with our family members in the Philippines, we will do our best to make Duterte the next president of the Philippines," said Ingles.
