MANILA - Photos of a washroom at a train station in Manila recently made rounds online, baffling netizens for showing 3 toilet bowls without any partition between them.

"I wonder what the contractor was thinking," one netizen wrote on Twitter.

The Department of Transportation had denied responsibility over the washroom, saying it was an unfinished project under the previous administration's drive to improve public restrooms around the country.

But what is the state of public comfort rooms in the metro?

The management of public restroom falls on which government agency owns it, the Department of Interior and Local Government said.

For instance, those in Luneta are supervised by the National Parks Development Committee while those at the MRT-3 are managed by the railway's administration. Other washrooms are maintained by national agencies or local government, DILG Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya told ABS-CBN News.

ABS-CBN News teams made a random sampling of the comfort rooms being made available to the riding public and here is what they found out.
