There is no doubt that love teams dominate today's showbiz landscape with the tandems of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, James Reid and Nadine Lustre and Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano entertaining fans on TV, the big screen and even on live stages both here and abroad.

But this phenomenon is hardly new. Thirty years ago, celebrity couples, real or otherwise, were also a hit among fans. In fact, 1986 was the year when concert king and queen Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez got married, much to the delight of their followers.

As the country marks the 30th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, here are some of the hit tandems back in the 1980s.

Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion

Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion were first paired in the 1981 movie "Dear Heart," which also marked the singer-actress's big-screen debut. This was followed by several other hits, earning them the label of showbiz's "power couple." Cuneta and Concepcion eventually became a real-life couple and in 1984, they got married and were blessed with a daughter, KC Concepcion. Their marriage, however, turned out to be short-lived and the two separated. Both have since re-married.
